Now, it is alleviating to know that to achieve goals and objectives, we can still relax and in fact we should balance our efforts with it. Here you will find Robert E. Lee views on the topic of self-discipline and how to balance it.

“… One first [has] to be the master of one-self [to lead] Robert E. Lee knew (Robert E. Lee on Leadership: Executive Lessons in Character, Courage and Vision; Copyright 1999, pp. 16). Self-discipline is a basic requirement of effective leadership” (Robert E. Lee on Leadership: Executive Lessons in Character, Courage and Vision; Copyright 1999, pp. 17) and achievement I may add.

“I cannot [allow] to place in the control of others [a person] that cannot control himself.“ Lee further explained that the only way to achieve self-discipline is to “deny himself,” or to post-pone gratification.

In the same book mentioned above, the author states that “in business as in war success is often given to the best [self]-disciplined, the toughest and the most prepared. You do not need anybody disciplining you or making you do the things you know already you ought to do. You do them when you ought to do it even if you do not feel like it.

The author also says a successful business leader must be self-disciplined. He needs to put hard work before leisure. This is usually the case to achieve scholastically whether in junior high (middle high school), high-school or at the university level.Nonetheless a word of caution is that we all must make time for rest, recreation and reflection (Page 46) to maintain good physical and mental health.
